Reach Out Honduras Current Scholarship Recipients
Back Row: Bendiman, Bryan, Melchor and Bernardo
Front Row: Deborah, Chester, Cesia and Dina
The first 2 recipients of the Reach Out Honduras College Scholarship fund were Bryan & Melchor. Both boys have completed their fourth year of medical school. It is a very rare thing for a Miskito child to even imagine themselves capable of ever attending medical school. The doctors here are primarily from the interior of Honduras or from Cuba. These 2 have a vision to become Drs. of Microbiology, return to La Moskitia and help their family and their community and ROH. They have asked us about opening a clinic on the IVA site to provide medical care for the IVA extended family.
6 additional students are currently receiving scholarships through ROH. They are studying to be future teachers of English and Computers, a Pharmacist and a Pre-school teacher. At least 2 of these students will return to Puerto Lempira and teach at IVA.
The 8 students live in Tegucigalpa. The ROH scholarship provides their living expenses, bus, books and tuition (which is minimal). Reach Out Honduras needs approximately $1600 per month. That is 8 students getting higher education for $200+ per month per student.
The ROH College Scholarship Fund is an ongoing need and we would love your help in helping these 8 Christian young people to reach their dreams and return to help their very own.
Thank you!
